I’ll start with wonderful debut from a Polish singer Barbara Wrońska. She has been known in Poland for as a member of bands such as Ballady i Romanse or Pustki. This year she decided to release her first solo album and I was delighted to discover how many genres it merges: from musical, to electro to the classic Polish ballads. This album is so full of vulnerability and raw emotions, expressed by the light accompaniaments of piano and other interesting accoustic sounds.
Check her if you like: Sóley, Regina Spektor, Sara Barreiles, Róisín Murphy
I just thought how much of great music that is not sung in English there is and yet it is so hard to discover it, even in the age of Spotify and the Internet
so I feel like launching series of posts promoting great Polish records/artists which I think could be hard to discover even with Youtube and other services
10. A song that has new meaning to you everytime you hear it. I wanted to put J Newsom here, but as she does not have her music published on spotify, I chose Holter and this song. She once said it was about the end of world, however, sometimes I find it very positive or reminding me of my hometown.
09. A song that means a lot to you. Love is one of my most important values, and this song helped me to realise it while I was in a very dark place.
08. A song that calms you down. Eefje’s delicate voice and lyrics full of Dutch “H” sounds make this song very relaxing.
